At the Louisiana Purchase Exposition, Saint Louis, MO, 1904, a view of the Sunken Garden flanked on all sides by the monolithic fair buildings. The Smithsonian coordinated all of the U.S. Government exhibits and prepared a display on its activities and collections for the exposition.
