Summary

HEAO-1, an X-ray satellite carrying an experiment developed jointly by the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology is the first in a series of three high-energy observatories launched by the National Air and Space Museum to survey and map the X-ray sky.
