Portrait of Jean Louis Agassiz, 1807-1873, member of the Smithsonian Board of Regents. He was the leading biologist in the United States in the 1840s and the founding director of the Museum of Comparative Zoology at Harvard University. He was known for his anti-Darwinism stance.
