Summary

Statuary in the Hiram Powers studio in Florence, Italy, untouched since his death in 1873, as it appeared when purchased by the Smithsonian Institution in July 1967. The 160 pieces of sculpture included two major marbles--"Eve Tempted" (1842) and "Indian Girl -the Last of the Tribe" (1872); two full sized plaster models of the "Greek Slave"; 12 marble busts of prominent early 19th century Americans; and 44 plaster busts.
