Summary

Edmund C. Tarbell (1862-1938), a painter and teacher, was a member of the National Gallery of Art Commission, now the Smithsonian American Art Museum, from 1924 to 1938. In the background is a pair of stained glass windows, "Peacock and Peony" by John LaFarge (1835-1910), a gift from Henry LaFarge in 1936.
