Summary

Secretary Henry reports that papers on several topics of original research will be published in the second volume of "Smithsonian Contributions." Among these are: astronomical tables to assist in measuring longitude; tables indicating the daily position of the planet Neptune; meteorological observations; temperature and velocity of the Gulf Stream; the botany of Oregon; geology and mineralogy of the northern lakes; accurate compass readings; and a bibliography of all works relative to or published in America prior to 1700.
