Summary

The Chesapeake Bay Center for Field Biology (CBCFB) is renamed the Chesapeake Bay Center for Environmental Studies (CBCES) and placed under the administration of the newly created Office of Environmental Sciences. The center on 700 acres of land is located seven miles south of Annapolis, Maryland, on property called Java Farm bequeathed to the Smithsonian Institution in 1962 by Robert Lee Forest. It is later renamed the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center.
