Looking upward through one of the General Post Office Building's spiral staircase. The General Post Office was later known as the Tariff Commission building. The building was made available for use by the Smithsonian Institution in 1984 which was not pursued. The building was leased by the General Services Administration in the late 1990s to a group who converted the space into a hotel preserving its elegant features such as this spiral staircase.
