Summary

Display case with James Smithson memorabilia that was added during the renovation of the Smithson crypt in the Smithsonian Institution Building or "Castle" in 1974. James Smithson (c.1765-1829) left a bequest which was used to found the Smithsonian Institution. His remains were brought from Italy to the United States in 1904.
