Summary

The Department of Geology, chaired by G. Arthur Cooper, is split into the Department of Mineral Sciences and the Department of Paleobiology. The new Department of Mineral Sciences, chaired by George S. Switzer, consists of three divisions: Mineralogy, Meteorites, Petrology. The new Department of Paleobiology, chaired by Cooper, consists of four divisions: Invertebrate Paleontology, Vertebrate Paleontology, Paleobotany, Sedimentology.
