Summary

Charles Roswell, Museum of History and Technology, now the National Museum of American History, exhibits specialist, working on the balloon frame house display in the National Museum of History and Technology Hall of Everyday Life in the American Past. Balloon frame construction consists of thin, precut, sawed lumber held together with iron nail rather than wooden pegs. It was a cheap form of construction in the mid 1800's.
