Summary

Dr. Richard McCrosky, scientist-in-charge of Prairie Meteorite Network (1962-1975) viewing photograph of meteor taken by the network cameras. The Network, a system of 16 unmanned, fully automatic camera stations in Midwestern United States, to acquire orbital and trajectory data on very bright meteors. The photos, such as one being analyzed here, are used in attempts to locate and recover meteorites that might have survived trip to earth's surface. The project was administered by the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory.
