Summary

In accordance with a resolution adopted at the 1958 Smithsonian Art Commission meeting, a committee is appointed by the Chancellor to assist in the organization of a National Portrait Gallery and to advise in the plans for adapting the Old Patent Office Building to the needs of such a gallery. The committee is comprised of Regents John Nicholas Brown, Sen. J.W. Fulbright, Rep. Frank T. Bow and Caryl P. Haskins.
