Work on the foundations of the new National Museum of Natural History on October 17, 1904. On the right workers are filling in a hole with large, flat stones and gravel, and on the left the workers are still working on the hole. The view is looking north from The Mall and also shows horses and carriages, and the Old Post Office, on the left.
