Aldrich (standing), who worked for the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory from 1908-1955 and was its director from 1944 to 1955, and two unidentified persons (one of whom is a woman), ride a tram up the side of Mt. Wilson, California, which served as a Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory station from 1905 to the mid 1930's.
