Summary

The Smithsonian Museum Service is established to coordinate the extension of the museum activities with particular attention to the historic development of these activities and their relationship to the development of the Institution. The Service operates under the Office of the Secretary. Its functions include the administration of the volunteer docent program of the Junior League. G. Carroll Lindsay is appointed acting curator.
