A waterfall from a small side-stream on the Rio Grande, near Cana, Darien, Panama. From 1910 to 1912 the Smithsonian participated in the Biological Survey of the Panama Canal Zone, to document the natural history of the Canal Zone prior to construction of the Panama Canal. Samuel F. Hildebrand, from the Bureau of Fisheries, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), was a member of the field party and took this picture.
