Summary

Dr. Charles Greeley Abbot, retired Secretary, is honored on the occasion of his eighty-third birthday (as well as his sixtieth year of association with the Smithsonian) in a ceremony in the great hall of the Smithsonian Building. As part of the occasion, a bronze bust of Abbot by Alicia Neathery is unveiled. In FY 1958 the bust is "recommended for addition to the Smithsonian collection" and is assigned to the National Collection of Fine Arts.
