Summary

The bequest of George H. Stephenson provides for the sculpting of a statue of the air leader Gen. William Mitchell, planned for display in the Aeronautical Hall of Fame, a feature of the proposed National Air Museum. The completed sculpture is unveiled on December 17, 1957, as a climactic feature of the year that marks the 50th anniversary of the Air Force. The sculpture is created by artist Bruce Moore.
