Summary

During fiscal year 1952, under the direction of Annemarie H. Pope (Mrs. John A.), the National Collection of Fine Arts inaugurates the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service. Initially, it is financed by the Alice Pike Barney Fund and a grant from the State Department.
