Summary

The original Star-Spangled Banner, which flew over Fort McHenry in 1814 and inspired the words of our National Anthem, installed into place in Flag Hall of the National Museum of History and Technology, now the National Museum of American History. Hanging from the top of the flag, actually attached to a supporting backing, are tapes which will be used to secure the topmost portion of the flag. The structure slopes gently backward to bear the weight of the flag, and the backing material is attached at several points.
