Exhibit of relics entitled "The destruction of the U.S.S. Maine" on display in the Hall of Naval History, which opened in 1952 in the United States National Museum, now the Arts and Industries Building. The Maine was blown up in Havana Harbor, Cuba in 1898, and was the incident that caused the United States to declare war on Spain beginning the Spanish-American War.

Negative Number 42101 or MAH-42101 is a black and white negative, a print can be found in Record Unit 95. SIA2010-3086 is a print found in Record Unit 549 and has a notation that reads "Relics of the destruction of the Maine, a part of the Hall of Naval History, opened in 1952 in the U. S. National Museum, Smithsonian Institution".
