View of the construction of the northwest quadrant of the United States National Museum (USNM), now known as the Arts & Industries Building (A&I). The exterior and interior walls are under construction. This view is from the South Tower of the Smithsonian Building, looking east towards the United States Capitol Building. The corner of the Smithsonian Institution Building can be seen on the left. The ceremonial ground breaking for the new museum was held on April 17, 1879.
