Workmen installing copper sheathing to the dome of the kiosk, a small 42-foot diameter building, near the Smithsonian Institution Building. The kiosk is the entrance to the third and deepest level of the complex housing the S. Dillon Ripley International Center, classrooms, workshops, seminar rooms, and an auditorium. The Smithsonian's $73.2 million complex, which opened in June 1987, also includes the National Museum of African Art and the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery.
