Summary

The United States National Museum participates in the International Fisheries Exhibit in London through October 30th. In the Spring of 1882, United States Congress authorized the U.S. Fish Commission to participate, and Secretary Spencer F. Baird, again being unable to attend, appoints George Brown Goode as special commissioner. The American section was recognized as one of the most important divisions of the exhibition and received a total of 151 awards. Mr. Goode is able to spend a great deal of time studying the methods of managing museums in English establishments.
