Henri Pittier, Swiss-born geographer and botanist, and Wilson Popenoe, agricultural explorer and educator, in Ocumare, de la Costa, Venezuela. The image was taken by Alexander Wetmore, sixth Smithsonian Secretary and ornithologist, while on scientific expedition in the region.
