B. S. Donaldson standing in a field with a gun in one hand, resting on his shoulder, and a dead bird in the other. He and Alexander Wetmore were on a collecting expedition at Estancia in Los Yngleses at Lavalle, Buenos Aires, Argentina on November 10, 1920. This photograph was taken by Alexander Wetmore, noted ornithologist and sixth Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution, 1944-1952, while conducting field work for the United States Bureau of Biological Survey throughout the islands of the Caribbean and various Latin American countries.
