Passenger coach on the ranch railroad running into the interior of the ranch from the Rio Paraguay at Puerto Pinasco, Paraguay. The passenger coach is open on the sides and has a simple roof. There are several benches on the car and it appears to be filled to capacity with people. There is a regular boxcar behind this passenger car on the track. This photograph was taken by Alexander Wetmore, noted ornithologist and sixth Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution, 1944-1952, while conducting field work for the United States Bureau of Biological Survey throughout the islands of the Caribbean and various Latin American countries.
