Waterfront of the Rio Paraguay in Villa Concepcion in Paraguay on August 30, 1920. Several unidentified men are visible gathered around a small boat on the water's edge. Various buildings are seen in the distance on the river's shore. This photograph was taken by Alexander Wetmore, noted ornithologist and sixth Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution, 1944-1952, while conducting field work for the United States Bureau of Biological Survey throughout the islands of the Caribbean and various Latin American countries.
