Summary

United States Congress authorizes payment of salary of Captain C. F. Hall, late in command of the Polaris expedition, to his widow, Mercy Ann Hall. In addition, the Secretary of the Navy is authorized to purchase the manuscripts of Charles Hall relative to his voyages from his widow, at a price not to exceed $15,000, and to deposit the same with officers of the Smithsonian. On March 3, 1875, Congress authorizes $15,000 to print illustrations of the results of the Polaris expedition. These are to accompany the publications prepared by Dr. Emil Bessels.
