Summary

The United States Congress appropriates $10,000 to transfer and arrange the collections of the American Institute of Mining Engineers to the National Museum. In 1883, the collections were presented to the Museum, but were kept packed and stored in the basement of the Memorial Hall, Fairmount Park, Philadelphia, and could not be moved to Washington until the special appropriation was made.
