Summary

Alexander Wetmore, sixth Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution, 1944-1952, in a village at the mouth of the Rio Imamado, in Darien, Panama, on March 30, 1947, is on a collecting trip with Watson M. Perrygo. Wetmore is standing in front of a thatched roof hut set on stilts. A ladder made from a tree trunk leads from the ground to the floor of the hut. People and household goods are visible inside the hut. Wetmore was conducting ornithological field work for his four volume work, "The Birds of Panama."
