Summary

The American Historical Association is incorporated by the United States Congress and is ordered to report annually to the Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution. The collections, manuscripts, books, pamphlets, and other material for history are to be deposited in the Smithsonian Institution or United States National Museum. The first report is transmitted to Congress in the spring of 1899.
