Summary

The Smithsonian participates in the Ohio Valley and Central States Exposition in Cincinnati, Ohio (July 4-Oct. 7), and the Marietta Exposition in Marietta, Ohio (July 16-21). Assistant Secretary George Brown Goode is appointed representative of the Smithsonian Institution. The United States Congress appropriates $50,000 to cover expenses of the Smithsonian for participation in these expositions, of which $10,000 is transferred to the Commissioner of Fisheries.
