PrintThe Smithsonian Board of Regents repeals a resolution originally adopted January 26, 1847, requiring an equal division of income between active operations and the library and museum. They pass a resolution stating that hereafter annual appropriations will be apportioned according to intrinsic importance in the judgment of the Regents. (The 1856 AR p. 12 says the date of repeal was January 15.)
