PrintAmendments made by this Act to section 706 of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 include: definitions of employer, employee, labor organization, and religion. Provisions are set forth concerning: enforcement by the Commission, State enforcement proceedings, civil actions, designation of judges, back pay liability, transfer of functions, cooperation of State and local agencies, recordkeeping, and investigatory powers. An Equal Employment Opportunity Coordinating Council is established. Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (78 Stat. 253; 42 U.S.C. 2000e et seq.) is amended by adding at the end thereof the following new section: Nondiscrimination in Federal Government Employment.
