- The sum of $15,500,000 is appropriated to enable the Board of Trustees of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts to carry out the planning, contracting, and construction of the Center. The sum of $15,000,000 is provided for expenses of the Smithsonian Institution including: research; preservation, exhibition, and increase of collections from Government and other sources; international exchanges; anthropological researches; maintenance of the Astrophysical Observatory; administration of the National Collection of Fine Arts and the National Portrait Gallery; purchase, repair, and cleaning of uniforms for guards and elevator operators; repairs and alterations of buildings and approaches; and preparation of manuscripts, drawings, and illustrations for publications.
- An additional amount of $1,000,000 is provided for preparing plans and specifications for remodeling the Civil Service Commission Building to make it suitable to house certain art galleries of the Smithsonian Institution. The sum of $1,525,000 is appropriated for expenses of planning, construction, remodeling, and equipping buildings and facilities at the National Zoological Park. The sum of $1,364,000 is provided for the expenses of preparing plans and specifications for the construction of a suitable building for a National Air Museum.
- The sum of $2,147,000 is appropriated for the upkeep and operation of the National Gallery of Art including; protection and care of the works of art therein; payment in advance when authorized by the treasurer of the Gallery for membership in library, museum, and art associations or societies whose publication or services are available to members only, or to members at a price lower than to the general public; purchase, repair, and cleaning of uniforms for guards and elevator operators; purchase or rental of devices and services for protecting buildings and contents; maintenance and repair of buildings, approaches, and grounds; and restoration and repair of works of art for the National Gallery of Art.
