Summary

The Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution and the Trustees of the National Gallery of Art may designate employees of their respective agencies as special policemen. Public travel in and occupancy of the specified grounds is restricted to the sidewalks and other paved surfaces, except in the National Zoological Park. It shall be unlawful for anyone other than an authorized employee or concessionaire to sell any article within the buildings or grounds. Restrictions for handling objects of art or scientific or historical objects on exhibition are set forth. Regulations deemed necessary for the adequate protection of the buildings and grounds shall be printed in the Federal Register. Provisions regulating the power of the special police, and the suspension of prohibitions for ceremonies, etc. are delineated.
