  • The following sums are appropriated: $32,000 for international exchanges, including employees and purchase of necessary books and periodicals; $42,000 for continuing ethnological researches among the American Indians and the natives of Hawaii, including the excavation and preservation of archaeologic remains; $7,500 for the work of the International Catalogue of Scientific Literature; $13,000 for maintenance of Astrophysical Observatory; $25,000 for cases, furniture, etc. for the National Museum; $46,000 for heating, lighting, electrical, telegraphic, and telephonic service; $300,000 for continuing preservation, exhibition, and increase of collections from the surveying and exploring expeditions of the Government; $2,000 for purchase of books, pamphlets, and periodicals for reference; $10,000 for repairs of buildings, shops, and sheds; $500 for postage stamps and foreign postal cards. In all, National Museum, $383,500.
  • The sum of $100,000 is appropriated for the National Zoological Park; for roads, walks, bridges, water supply, sewerage, and drainage; improving the grounds; erecting and repairing buildings; care and transportation of animals; necessary employees; driving of horses and vehicles required for official purposes. One half of this sum shall be paid from the revenues of the District of Columbia and the other half from the treasury of the United States. The sum of $50,000 is provided to enable the acquisition of lands required for a connecting parkway between Potomac Park, the Zoological Park, and Rock Creek Park.
  • The sum of $76,200 is appropriated for miscellaneous printing and binding and for printing annual reports, including those of the Board of Regents, the National Museum, the Bureau of American Ethnology, and the American Historical Association. The provisions of a section, setting forth the time for furnishing copy of annual reports to the Public Printer, shall not apply to the annual reports of the Smithsonian Institution.
