- The following sums are appropriated: $28,800 for expenses of the system of international exchanges, including salaries of all employees, and purchase of books and periodicals; $40,000 for continuing ethnological researches among the American Indians; $15,000 for maintenance of the Astrophysical Observatory; $1,500,000 for continuing the construction of the building for the National Museum; $22,500 for cases, furniture, etc. for the National Museum; $18,000 for heating, lighting, electrical, telegraphic, and telephonic service; $180,000 for continuing the preservation, exhibition, and increase of the collections from the surveying and exploring expeditions of the Government; and $6,500 for the transportation from the Louisiana Purchase Exposition, Saint Louis, Missouri to the United States National Museum, exhibits acquired by the Government;
- Also $2,000 for purchase of books, pamphlets, and periodicals for reference; $15,000 for repairs to buildings, shops, and sheds; $4,580 for rent of workshops and temporary storage quarters; and $500 for postage stamps and foreign postal cards. The sum of $95,000 is appropriated for the National Zoological Park for continuing the construction of roads, walks, bridges, water supply, sewerage and drainage, improving grounds, erecting and repairing buildings, care and transportation animals, and driving of horses and vehicles required for official purposes. The sum of $25,000 is provided for the printing of labels and blanks, and for the Bulletins and Proceedings of the National Museum and for the binding of scientific books and pamphlets presented to and acquired by the National Museum Library.
