PrintThe Smithsonian Institution is authorized to extend the Natural History Building of the United States National Museum by additions on the east and west ends in accordance with plans to be approved by the Commission of Fine Arts. The sum of $6,500,000 is authorized for this purpose.

These funds were authorized but not appropriated at this time. The wings were not actually constructed until the 1960s, when appropriations were received.
