Summary

  • Enacted by congress for the establishment of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1993. Title XXXV is here established as the Panama Canal Commission, and under Subtitle A - Annual Authorization is Sec. 3512. Health care. Sec. 3512. Health Care amended Section 1321(e)(1) of the Panama Canal Act of 1979 (22 U.S.C. 3731) by inserting after "health care services" the following: "provided by medical facilities licensed and approved by the Republic of Panama (and not operated by the United States)."
  • Section 4436 of the Act pertains to separation pay and amends chapter 55 of title 5, United States Code. "In order to avoid or minimize the need for involuntary separations due to a reduction in force, base closure, reorganization, transfer of function, or other similar action affecting 1 or more defense agencies, the Secretary (of Defense) shall establish a program under which separation pay be my offered to encourage eligible employees to separate from service voluntarily (whether by retirement or resignation)."
