Summary

The Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI), Panama's Ministry of Agricultural Development, Institute of Agricultural Research of Panama (IDIAP), and Tropical Agricultural Center for Research and Education (CATIE) agreed to promote closer ties between the organizations in developing a strategy for research and development of Panama's natural resources, to train Panamanian researchers, and to appoint a committee composed of six representatives, two each from IDIAP, RENARE and STRI, who will be advised by CATIE. The tasks of the committee will be to study and define joint research projects, to determine the contributions of each of the participating organizations, and to implement methods of coordination.
