Summary

The House moves to fulfill its part of the Senate resolution forming a committee to explore the best means of fulfilling the requirements of the Smithson bequest. The resolution is concurred in and the Speaker authorized to appoint a committee of nine. Also, Mr. Keim offers a joint resolution that the committee on the Smithson bequest be instructed to inquire into the establishment of a professorship of the German language as part of the literary instruction.
