Summary

A National Archives Council is created and composed of the Secretaries of each of the executive departments of the Government (or an alternate from each department to be named by the Secretary thereof), the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Library, the Chairman of the House Committee on the Library, the Librarian of Congress, the Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution, and the Archivist of the United States. The Council shall define the classes of material for transfer to the National Archives Building and establish regulations governing such transfer and shall advise the Archivist in respect to regulations governing the disposition and use of the archives and records transferred to his custody.
