The following sums are appropriated: $24,000 for international exchanges; $50,000 for American ethnology for continuing ethnological researches among the American Indians, including salaries of necessary employees; $12,000 for maintenance of the Astrophysical Observatory; $20,000 for cases, furniture, etc. for the National Museum; $23,000 for the expense of heating, lighting, electrical, telegraphic, and telephonic service; $12,500 for removing old boilers and installing new boilers in the National Museum building; $180,000 for the preservation, exhibition, and increase of the collections from the surveying and exploring expeditions of the Government; $10,000 for the purchase of specimens in the collections of the National Museum; $2,000 for the purchase of books, pamphlets, and periodicals for reference; $15,000 for repairs to buildings, shops, and sheds; $5,000 for construction of two galleries in the National Museum building; $4,400 for rent of workshops and storage quarters; $500 for postage stamps and foreign postal cards; $80,000 for continuing the construction of roads, walks, bridges, water supply, sewerage and drainage for the National Zoological Park; $2,500 for the improvement and maintenance of Smithsonian grounds; and $17,000 for printing labels and blanks, and for binding of scientific books and pamphlets presented to and acquired by the National Museum Library.
