PrintThe following sums are appropriated to pay the account of the Smithsonian Institution for the transmission of mail matter for the Treasury Department for the fiscal years as follows: for 1901, $244.05; for 1900, $453.50. The sum of $47.61 is provided for the payment of outstanding accounts for transportation incurred during the fiscal year 1897 under the appropriation "North American Ethnology." The sum of $5,620 is appropriated for the purchase of necessary books for the library, and the payment for the transmission of public documents through the Smithsonian exchange. The facilities for study and research in the National Museum, the Zoological Park, and the Bureau of Ethnology shall be afforded to scientific investigators and to duly qualified individuals, students, and graduates of institutions of learning in the States and Territories, as well as in the District of Columbia.
