- The following sums are appropriated; $21,000 for international exchanges, including salaries of employees; $50,000 for continuing ethnological researches among the American Indians; $10,000 for the maintenance of the Astrophysical Observatory; $35,000 for furniture, etc. for the National Museum; $14,000 for heating, lighting, electrical, telegraphic, and telephonic service for the National Museum; $165,000 for preserving the collections from the surveying and exploring expeditions of the Government; $2,000 for reference books; $4,000 for building repairs; $4,500 for rent of workshops; $500 for postage stamps and foreign postal cards; $10,000 for the construction of galleries in the National Museum and for skylights and for the erection of a ventilator upon the roof of the Lecture Hall.
- Also $5,000 for the purchase of the library of the late G. Brown Goode; and $65,000 for continuing the construction of roads, walks, bridges, water supply, sewerage and drainage for the National Zoological Park. Permission is granted to the Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution to exhibit articles at the exposition and such exhibits and articles are to be returned to the department to which they belong at the close of the exposition. The sum of $17,000 is appropriated for printing labels and blanks and for binding the publications of the National Museum.
