PrintSections 5579, 5580, and 5591 of title 73 of the Revised Statutes are amended in the following manner: "Sec. 5579. That the president, the Vice-President, the Chief Justice, and the heads of Executive Departments are hereby constituted an establishment by the name of the Smithsonian Institution for the increase and diffusion of knowledge among men, and by that name shall be known and have perpetual succession with the powers, limitations, and restrictions hereinafter contained, and no other." Sec. 5580 is amended by striking out the words "the governor of the District of Columbia." The following phrase is added to Sec. 5591: "This shall not operate as a limitation on the power of the Smithsonian Institution to receive money or other property by gift, bequest, or devise, and to hold and dispose of the same in promotion of the purposes thereof."
