Summary

  • The following sums are appropriated: $132,500 for preserving collections at the National Museum; $10,000 for cases, furniture, and fixtures for the exhibition of collections; $11,000 for heating, lighting, electrical, telegraphic, and telephonic service; $500 for postage stamps and foreign postal cards for the National Museum; $50,000 for continuing the construction of roads, walks, bridges, water supply, sewerage, drainage, and for improving the grounds of the National Zoological Park, including salaries of employees; $9,000 for maintenance of the astrophysical observatory; $14,500 for expenses of the system of international exchanges; $40,000 for continuing ethnological researches among the American Indians; $12,000 for printing labels and blanks and for the annual volumes of the "Proceedings" of the National Museum.
  • For completing the repairs upon the Smithsonian building, any unexpended balance remaining to the credit of the appropriation for fireproofing, and so forth, shall be available.
